The fact that everyone keeps trying to directly copy Sylvia Ji and think they can get away with it is HORRIBLY INFURIATING. Google SYLVIA JI or just “day of the dead girl” and see what I mean. Also this: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3262/2597425660_bfe683d79c.jpg
WTG horrible artist….wtg.Wow, your comment could not have been any less inaccurate, rude or judgemental. Being the artist of this piece, I did not copy any of Sylvia Ji’s work; in fact saying so is idiotic, because if I did COPY her work, the style, colour scheme and pose would resemble more of her works, and through doing some investigating, it does not. If I DIRECTLY copied her work, as you so presume I did, don’t you think my piece would DIRECTLY, match her pieces? I’m not sure if you’re blind, but I don’t see one of her works that DIRECTLY matches my own. What, do you think she went back thousands of years and invented Day of the Dead? You think this make up and costume belongs to her because she’s done a large amount of pieces on the subject? I used photographic reference for this piece; if you did any research at all, you’d find that the makeup represented here is typical and traditional to the Mexican Day of the Dead holiday, which has been around for thousands of years, not to a specific artist. Therefore speaking, I would have copied the traditional makeup and costume for the holiday, as Sylvia would have done the exact same thing.
How dare you judge me and say I copied someone else’s work when a) both are referenced from the same source and b) when neither pieces of work resemble each other. And calling me a horrible artist, ha, I sense some jealousy there. If you’re going to say anything about anyone else’s work, at least do some research. You clearly have no idea what you’re talking about and your whole remark is invalid.
Oh and I just realised you tagged my work as art theft, despite my progress shots; copying is not art theft, and this isn’t copied or it would look the exact same. You are a fucking idiot; art theft is when you STEAL someone’s work, hence the term theft; go wallow in your stupidity a little longer, please.
And if you must know what image inspired me, it was this one here.
